God is working in Hollywood (12/01/2001)
California's #1 export to the world is it's films and television shows. And Hollywood is known as a place of glitz, glamour, fame, power and tremendous influence worldwide. Therefore, it is also the perfect place for powerful spiritual warfare. God wants Christ-like servants and ambassadors to be working and ministering here and Satan wants greed, money, fame and power to rule the hearts of all who are here.
The bad news is the battle is intense. The good news is that God is winning. And better yet, God is the ultimate VICTOR. Those of us Christians who work in the entertainment field Praise God for this promise! It's good for other Christians to know how God is using mere men to break through great barriers to be people of influence in Hollywood.
What many people don't know is that committed Christians are Executive Producers, actors, writers or creators of these currently running network television shows: "Touched By An Angel," "Days Of Our Lives," " General Hospital", "Seventh Heaven", "Everybody Loves Raymond", The Simpsons" and "Texas Walker Ranger" to name a few. This is a miracle!
God has placed Christians in all areas of the entertainment industry, from Executive's assistants to actors, cameramen, composers, writers, directors and producers. There are hundreds of Christian professionals who gather weekly and/or monthly to encourage one another, prayer for the people specifically in this business and to share how the Lord is moving in our workplace. There are Bible studies on EVERY studio lot and in every TV network, plus there are numerous full-time ministries who are reaching out to share the Good News with non-Christians, along with building up the Christians. But it's still not enough...
The temptations are tough, the competition is fierce, the sin is rampant, but the Lord is bigger than all of that. He has sent mighty warriors to Hollywood to fight the good fight, build one another up and be salt and light to the thousands of culturally Jewish, aetheists, agnostics and new age people in entertainment, including Talent Agents, Production people, Actors, news producers and studio and television network executives.
God also puts it on the hearts of filmgoers and TV watchers to pray for the work being done, to pray for the stars and behind-the-scenes people who don't know the Lord and to lift up the Christians who are here on the front lines. You could be one of those people who are making an eternal difference in the media around the world - just by praying for the people here in the entertainment industry.
