This week our prayer focus is: Mayra Leal
Born and raised in Houston, Texas, Mayra Leal started her career in 2004 at the age of 17 shooting local commercials. In 2008 she landed her first lead role in an episode of the National Geographic Channel series "Locked Up Abroad". It was then she realized that she wanted to tell stories the rest of her life.Mayra graduated from the University of Houston with a bachelor's degree in Advertising/Public Relations with a Minor in Mathematics in 2009.
In 2009 Mayra received a call to audition for the Robert Rodriguez directed action film, "Machete". She landed the role and worked alongside famed actors Danny Trejo and Steven Segal. Soon after she landed a role in an episode of the ABC series "The Deep End" directed by Timothy Busfield and earned the lead role of the black widow Blair in "Playing House".
More recently, Mayra filmed "Killing Game" with Samuel L. Jackson and Kellan Lutz in Baton Rouge as well as "Memphis Beat" with series leads Jason Lee and Sam Hennings.
In a very short time Ms. Leal has made a name for herself with regional filmmakers and earned the reputation as an up-and-comer on the national and as well as international stage.
Unfortunately, Mayra's big claim-to-fame on Google is a nude scene she did in the film Machete. This does not bode well and speaks to her need for the stability James is referring to. In a subsequent email, this evening, James said that from his observation, Mayra does not yet know Jesus Christ. However, he says, "She really desires to get her life right with God. She is searching deeply but is still very entangled with her lifestyle."
PRAYER WARRIORS - this one is personal. Pray for Mayra's salvation and deliverance from the lifestyle that is consuming her. Pray for James to find a sister in Christ who can come alongside Mayra and lead her towards salvation. And pray for James, as he states above, to guard both of their hearts during the search process as he continues to work with her as a big brother.
